Well the feeling of not being wanted and feeling of not being loved and feeling of someone looking at you as a burden is already a great deal to deal with because being a girl you are already decriminalized since the day you come into this world. Though I know the world has now changed and girls are actually being wanted. There are couples who eagerly wait to have girls but we can’t deny that this society has already created a mould for us . From the type of clothes which we should wear to what career you should choose , from in what shape our bodies should be to how and what you should speak is already divided by this society and if we don’t fit into these mould than this very society who actually say these big and mighty line lie girls are laxmi and so on questions our character , our self-worth is divided by them and tell us on how we should actually compromise because we are fat , we are dark , we are skinny , we are ugly and so on . We all know how this society has been blaming girls for every situation to the point that in many households a woman is always blamed for disharmony in the house or even called a jinx. To such an extent that if a woman is raped or she complains of indecent behaviour they backlash us saying that it must be the woman’s mistake of wearing western clothes.
Due to this we have to always be cautious of our looks and everything because feeling of being unaccepted and unwelcomed makes us repressed and feel lonely. As a woman we have been striving hard to be accepted by this society but still all of us are mentally exhausted by this society.
So in such conditions what do we expect women to be? Happy?
It’s really hard to live as a woman and especially when you have a different mindset we are not accepted and our views are not validated. We are labelled as wrong by everyone and whatever we do is termed as wrong so we are in deja Vu for what we should do exactly and thus resulting in anxiety and depression and suppression of emotions that we shed through tears .

In our society women still face problems because of gender discrimination. Men and women are both equal in opportunities, taking care of family, career, education and etc. But then also due to society thinking is only one-sided towards men that what affect women Mental Health by doing comparison or not treating them equally like men. Women are very strong that they can tackle with every situation but then also society thinking has not changed towards women like men are stronger than women. Why? Women is the one who gives life from her body. But then also their is comparison between men and women power. In work life also men are always given priority than women. Why? Both are equal in talent and do hard work than Why? Only men are priority towards all the bigger opportunities. Society is the only one who does the gender discrimination and because of that slowly this affect women’s mental health due to overthinking on any matter or giving stress to their mind. In Family also women don’t get priority, love and respect from childhood they taught their daughter how to do household chores and not to go outside at night. And men are given priority, love and respect from childhood they taught their son to focus on studies be independent follow your goals and they can go out anytime. So why this comparison between men and women? Because of this women feel hurted by not getting their own family support to follow their goals to be confident and independent. And at childhood also parents should motivate both son and daughter to follow their goals. By doing this atleast women will not think of society if their family is supporting them. Mental Health can only be cure by love and respect for women and it happen only when society will stop making comparison or by being one-sided this will definitely help women to cure from mental health.

First of all, our society doesn’t even acknowledge the mental illness we have. According to many parents, it’s just another form of throwing tantrum or can be easily resolved by sleeping early and getting up early. And when it comes to women and moreover due to gender discrimination, it’s just like a bluff to them. How can a society, who expect women to serve 24×7, can accept the thought that she can also have a mental breakdown leading to momentarily stop talking and thinking and even can be fatal accident sometimes.
However most women will assure that gender discrimination isn’t something part of their life, it’s something which decides their life.
From childhood, they have seen a society which prevent them to go outside, to play, to talk loud and some women even experienced a father who is never happy because maybe he or his family always wanted a boy , not a girl.
By teenage, she learns how gender discrimination works. How a boy must go outside and she has to help in household chores. For the financially unstable family, girls even experience inferiority among education, lifestyle and some even get married.
With already less education and choices, when they ask why can’t they fulfill their families dreams, why can’t she takes over all the duties, the answer remain same.
    Because you are a girl.
Being a girl neither allows to make them fulfill their dreams, nor to become eligible to fulfill them.
And among all those disparities when one truly succeed to grow, she faces a whisper among society telling her silently that she must be a slut and achieve her dreams by some wrong deeds as women can’t progress without being dependent on men.
Women have to face the fear of losses, experiences of not being loved, failure to fulfill dreams in their whole life. And even after marriage, whether you are doing right or wrong, a woman has to be someone who has to endure everyone’s curse. Whether it’s in a relationship or in a family, women is the one to be blamed.
And after all of these, they are supposed to lead a normal life! How?
Being pressurized to be a perfect goddess to being afraid to be declared as a slut, she has experienced everything in every step.
Most of the teenager girls are suffering from depression, anxiety and it’s recorded that at least one human is committing suicide in every four minutes and the nonlethal suicide behavior is 40 to 60 percent higher in women than men.
To the society, who address their women as goddess, please go and ask your neighbours. Most of the teenage girls are afraid of being checked out with a guy and most of the married women are only living because of their children . Who knows, maybe you’ll find some women who even tried suicide and cursing their lives now.
Please be with each other and stop behaving with men and women. Let everyone be human.

It is well-acknowledged that the prevalence of mental disorders is higher in women than in men. Theoretical approaches attribute the disparities, largely to social and cultural factors and a gender bias that disfavors women. This essay will begin by exploring the role of gender discrimination as a cause of osteopathic disorders among women and then discuss how this impacts their substance use disorder risk. The consequences of gender discrimination lead to low self-esteem, depression, and increased risk of suicide among women. Women may also face internalized oppression as a result of race and gender discrimination, leading to eating disorders that are higher in women. The prevalence rates for anorexia were found to be 3 times higher in women than men.

The effect of gender discrimination on mental health is not limited to just the basis of internal strains. Gender discrimination has serious impacts on people’s physical and socio-emotional well-being as well. For example, researchers have found that women who are victims of gender discrimination are less effective in dealing with their breast cancer diagnosis. They also have higher fear levels and anxiety towards their illness, and poorer physical health. This is due to the increased stress and strain that gender discrimination puts them under. Sexism, in the form of gender discrimination, inevitably affects women’s mental well-being. This relates directly to women’s reproductive health and substance abuse. There is a significant relationship between gender discrimination and mental health among males as well.

Research has looked at various indicators of mental health, such as happiness levels and self-esteem. The results have shown that almost half of women reported discriminatory experiences in the workplace. Discriminatory behaviors ranged from being talked over at meetings to being told they could not do a job because it was “men’s work”. Women who experience sexual discrimination are more likely to develop alcohol disorders. In a recent study conducted on women, college graduates were evaluated concerning marital status, income, educational level, and race. The study revealed that negative emotional responses were strongly associated with alcohol abuse in women. If women could not defend themselves against discrimination either at home or work they were four times more likely to drink than others.

Mental health treatment starts by addressing the underlying reasons why people develop problems and symptoms in the first place. We examine everything from childhood trauma to the accumulation of life stresses, to biochemical imbalances in the brain. It’s important to look at the underlying causes to address as many problems as possible with a single treatment program. If a woman develops mental health problems, due to certain factors such as substance abuse, it may lead to the development of a mental illness as their physical and mental health becomes compromised. For example, women fail to get adequate treatment for mental health disorders when comparing men and women. This could be because they don’t have the support or have not been informed about available services.

The World Health Organization (WHO) acknowledges that health outcomes for both people throughout and across countries are unequal, and inequality is particularly disadvantageous for women in their lives. The more commonly experienced social and economic inequalities among women, such as lower levels of education and job creation, less salaries for similar jobs, less leadership and a higher level of psychosocial stresses and difficulties, from burden of care to intimate partner violence all contribute to the disparities. In recent years, numerous programmes to enhance health have properly focused on these obvious manifestations of gender inequity. WHO researchers conducted a secondary analysis on the measurement of gender discrimination in several European countries in order to examine maternal and child health, which would include obvious acts of gender discrimination but would also encompass a woman’s experience in the field of gender discrimination in everyday life. Originally intended as a depression screening tool for pregnancy and for postpartum usage by women during the entire lifetime the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) was able to detect depressed symptoms at every stage. Linear, mixed models were developed to study the relationship between sex discrimination perceived. At the same time research like this reminds us and strengthen us, that there are substantial social variables to the international “gender gap” in depression. Work must continue around the world, from poverty to violence, to address overt aspects of gender discrimination that harm women disproportionately. At the same time, many of the injustices that make a woman unfairly treated on the basis of her sex occur every day and might be subtly troublesome. Since these finer types of discrimination against men and women are so deeply rooted in our social structures, it will be difficult to reverse it and require international cooperation. The necessity to promote fair and fair treatment of gender and other intersecting identities internationally. In order to be sensitive to, and remedy, gender prejudice amongst us, we should not have been outraged.

“Of course you can’t drive properly, you’re a woman”; “You shouldn’t take up a time consuming, you are a woman, you need to be at home most of time to care for your family”; “Oh, women are not allowed to go in this temple, please stay outside”. I can go on listing many phrases uttered on everyday basis which are gender discriminatory by their very nature, but these are sufficient to get the gist. You must have either heard these phrases yourself or you might have seen someone else being bombarded by these phrases. This is everyday gender discrimination that every woman has to tolerate to survive this cruel world. But have you ever wondered how this impact a woman’s mental health?

Women are constantly discriminated against or judged on the basis of stereotypes. This not only leads for the women to have lower self-esteem but it also makes them question their worth on every new juncture in their life. This leads for women to have feelings of worthlessness and hopelessness. For how long will they keep being hopeful of a change being made when they are dealing with age-old discriminatory customs and stereotype every single day? This discrimination impacts women’s mental health very badly. Women can develop serious mental health issues like anxiety disorder and even clinical depression. This bad mental health in turn, gives misogynists yet another reason to perpetuate harmful gender-discriminatory notions in the society.

The only solution to these problems is to make a change in the society at a faster pace and till the change is not being made, therapy and mental health counselling should be made accessible to every single woman, and ultimately for every person regardless of their gender.

Gender discrimination has been in practice since ages in India. Women have been a victim of gender discrimination who suffer not only physically, emotionally but also mentally. It here becomes really important to acknowledge the effect of gender discrimination on women as they have been affected the most by it.
It is primarily because of Gender discrimination that a girl child is denied bher very basic right to education, she is forced into child marriage in many parts if nation, she is treated inferior to men, she isn’t allow to follow her passion etc.
Now if looked at from a broader perspective these very rights are a must in life of an individual specifically a girl is denied her right to take decisions of her life, live her life the way she wants, restrict her every action it will undoubtedly affect her mental health to the level that the confidence, self-esteem, self respect are shattered basically at the verge of getting many mental health issues including anxiety, severe depression etc. Depression these days has become common as one among four in each family is suffering from depression at the present time according to the survey conducted by World Health organization.
Mental health affects the personality of a person, a person with a mental health issues suffers in silence all alone.
It is our responsibility as friends and family to take note of any such unusual behaviour of our Loved one. Mental health needs to be prioritised like any other health issue and effective measures should be taken at the initial stages to deal with the same.
    Thank you
