Ever since the NALSA judgement, slowly, different educational institutions have started to incorporate the ‘transgender’ category for those who identify outside the male-female binary. However, we need to look at the real figures in schools, colleges and universities. How many transgender students do we actually see in these places? Is the mere addition of this category to a list of genders enough? Is horizontal reservation what we need? Are there other ways to deal with this issue?
