Women need to already go through a lot of physical and emotional changes during pregnancy and in this period they need utmost emotional and physical care. But still maternal health is not taken into consideration as it should be.
If we speak about physical health then women in urban areas do have an advantage of facilities and proper sanitation over women in rural areas.
The very first thing is there are less hospitals and less good facilities which have to be dealt with. Next thing is lack of a qualified doctor as Mostly in rural areas there are compounder turned doctors. Lack of knowledge too leads to death of foetus and mother or any one of them. Plus there are still some rural areas believing in the concept of giving birth at home making both mother and child more susceptible to infections. Next concern is poverty which leads to malnourishment for both mother and child and thus the government needs to work on getting these women to have proper nutritious food.
Now let’s jump on mental health issues . Even though urban areas women have more facilities, it may not be the case in mental health. Women nowadays are most likely to have pre- natal and post -natal depression and many households often ignore this. For many people mood changes are not validated and thus women have to go through a lot of frustrations. In many cases in fact women are abused even in pregnancy leading to miscarriages , premature death of both mother and the child . The point is we are not made aware of these issues and ignore these things .In pregnancy the environment around women should be happy and not chaotic as it will affect the child. We should work more on mental health of pregnant women and spread awareness about prenatal and postnatal health as most people are aware of prenatal but unaware of postnatal health

Maternal health is an interwoven plan which includes care during pregnancy, delivery time and postnatal care. Every phase should be an enriching experience rather a mental torture. Often women is not looked after properly, and they end up caught in some other diseases and get into depression.
Women go through a lot of changes in their body during pregnancy and post delivery and these changes sometime lead to a serious health issues if proper care is not provided.
According to WHO, motherhood is a natural enriching experience for women, but we need to look after women’s health with utmost care. The changes can be seen in their physical appearance and emotional behavior. Both needs to be identified at the right time and the treatment and medications should be provided as prescribed.
We can provide them to achieve the suitable care through various ways such as awareness of maternal health and family planning, by decreasing the healthcare charges and making a proper check up routine for women along with child.
A number of measures for the well-being of the maternal health are as follows:
    1. A well-balanced diet which includes veggies, meat,fish, nuts,fruits and beans.
    2. Iron supplements and folic acid during pregnancy, as a precautionary measure to avoid complications for mothers and babies.
    3. Regular exercises which are not much tiring.
    4. Refraining from alcohol or nicotine and less caffeine.
    5. Routine follow up of the health of women and growth of fetus during the whole pregnancy should be done religiously.
    6. Proper vaccinations required should be taken.
Along with these the other aspects which should needs attention is maternal mental health. Women should not neglect the mental health issues during and after the pregnancy and seek the medical help and treatment.
Baby blues and postpartum depression are a category of maternal mental issues. According to their symptoms we can distinguish the normal and abnormal. Baby blues are normal and lasts for shorter period and postpartum depression are not normal and needs treatment and therapy.
Maternal health is as important as having a child, and it needs more awareness for every women out there to aviod the unnecessary health complications and deaths if women and child.

Giving birth to a child is considered as the toughest task for a women, it is considered as painful as burning alive. Maternal health is the health of a woman during pregnancy, child birth and postpartum period. It encompasses the health care dimensions of family planning, preconception, prenatal and postnatal care in order to ensure a positive and fulfilling experience.
Maternal health revolves around the health and wellness of women, particularly when they are pregnant, at the time they give birth, and during child-raising. WHO has indicated that even though motherhood has been considered as a fulfilling natural experience that is emotional to the mother, a high percentage of women go through a lot of challenges where they suffer health-wise and sometimes even die.
Pregnancy is not an easy task, there exists a lot of sacrifices that a woman does while giving birth to a child, hair loss, dry skin, carrying a load in the belly is not an easy task, a woman has to take a lot of injections, she is the one sacrificing herself for a little one living inside her, sometimes even they can’t take medicines foe cough cold, as it could effect the baby’s health.
Today, in recent world, postnatal depression is a very common complication a woman faces, after giving birth to a child, she goes through a mental burden of being a mother too.
Maternal health both physical and mental is important because, a mother deserves care and love while she’s doing the toughest task of giving birth with a smile.

Maternal health is the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. It encompasses the health care dimensions of family planning, preconception, prenatal and posts natal care to ensure a positive and fulfilling experience in most cases and reduce maternal mortality and morbidity. The effect of a mother’s death results in vulnerable families and their infants.
Maternal health is the indicator of the well-being of our future generation. Malnutrition child imposes the greatest nutrition-related health burden at the global level. 161 million children are stunted due to chronic malnutrition. Ninety-nine million children are underweight. 45% of child deaths are caused by a child in maternal malnutrition. Sustainable development goal 3 aims to reduce maternal mortality as well as under-five deaths by 2030. Both of these goals are intricately linked. The state of health of an adolescent girl influences her nutritional status during her pregnancy and lactation this reflects upon the infant’s health which has some role in the health of the child as he or she grows into an adult. So what happens when maternal health goes down? A vicious cycle of ill health ensues. Pregnancy-related complications like obstructed labour, postpartum haemorrhage, low birth weight babies and increased maternal and foetal mortality are among the outcomes. A low birth weight baby is more likely to suffer from infections, which result in poor health leading to greater susceptibility to infections and so the cycle continues resulting in a malnourished individual. As a part of a global village, we must remember that one can’t thrive while the other suffers. There should be community education on a nutritious diet and child feeding. There should be the integration of nutrition education into smallholder farming. The empowerment of women is of utmost importance. Proper prenatal care, promotion of breastfeeding and family planning is also very important.

A time of unbelievable joy is what a mom experiences when a newborn is in her arms — a joy that every mom should be allowed to experience. But this memory will never happen for many pregnant women in India, the moment of birth is often terrible. Maternal death has been seen as the major health indicator, with well-known, largely avoidable, and curable direct causes of maternal death. Almost 2/3 of all maternal deaths are most commonly due to serious difficulties, such as severe bleeding, infections (normally after birth), high blood pressure (pre-eclampsia and eclampsia), delivery issues, and uncertain abnormalities. For 2016-2018, the Indian Maternal Mortality Ratio(MMR) is 113/100 000 live births (17 points) from 130 to 100 000 live births in 2014-2016, according to the latest report of the national sample registration system (SRS). This refers to 2,500 more mothers that were saved per year in 2018 compared to 2016. The total anticipated annual maternal mortality decreased to 26,437 in 2018, from 33,800 maternal mortality in 2016. The number one cause of death for girls between the ages of 15 and 19 years is pregnancy-related problems. Because teenagers continue to grow themselves, if they become pregnant they are more vulnerable to difficulties. In pregnancy, every woman has access to prenatal care, competent childcare, and support in the weeks after birth. All deliveries should be supported by qualified medical personnel since the timely management and treatment of both the mother and the infant might influence life and death. However, due to gaps in knowledge, policies, and resources availability, the coverage of life-saving health interventions and practices remains poor. There is a gap among the rich and poor in some locations as well as an urban-rural split. Access to health treatments sometimes depends on and where a family or mother lives.
