Many of the great inventions of the last 200 years were designed to replace human labour. Tractors were developed to substitute mechanical power for human physical toil. Assembly lines were engineer to replace inconsistent human handiwork with machine perfection. Computers were programmed to swap out an error-prone, inconsistent human calculation with digital perfection. These inventions have worked. We no longer dig ditches by hand, lb tools out of wrought iron or to bookkeeping using actual books. Most of the work we do requires a multiplicity of skills, and brains and brawn, technical expertise and intuitive mastery, perspiration and inspiration. In general, automating some sets of those tasks doesn’t make the other ones unnecessary. It makes them more important. It increases their economic value.
Women’s share of the global labour force has been stuck at 39% for the last thirty years. Automatic action is likely to displacement and women more or less equally over the next decade. Occupations and sectors today are sharply divided along gender lines. Men are reluctant to become nurses because of gender stereotyping and women pursue careers slide engineering very little. Progress towards gender equality across professions is welcome. It is estimated that half of the woman’s jobs displaced (52%) could be in services and clerical jobs. In machine operation and craftwork men’s jobs can be displaced around 40%. Automation may be relative de slow to affect emerging economies like our country India where the manufacturing wages are comparatively lower than the cost of machine labour. Women can be considered disadvantages compared to men when we considered new types of jobs. This may be the result of a new wave of technologies. In this time in age people need to have the right skills to be mobile and adaptable and to be tech-savvy. We have seen that women face many barriers, which main force them to lag behind men.
