There’s a lot of history behind Ukraine and Russia, They share a lot of culture and traditions. In fact, Russia kind of began in Ukraine, until it became bigger and expanded. But most importantly their current history has to do with NATO, an organisation of nations that was formed to stop the spread of the Soviet Union in Europe.
After the split of the Soviet Union in 1991, Russia has been really against European countries joining NATO. One such country that has been trying to gain membership is Ukraine.
You might ask why? It’s because if one country of NATO is attacked, it’s considered as an attack on every NATO member. And so collectively, they’re a much stronger power. Basically, Putin doesn’t want Ukraine to join NATO, reduce the chance of the Soviet Union reforming, and have powerful allies like the US and Uk. In fact, for the last couple of years, Russia has been demanding that NATO not enter into Eastern Europe, not allow countries like Ukraine to join them. These demands were not accepted. And as result, there have been Russians troops in Ukraine from the past 24 days and the war has resulted in a massacre. World War 3 is on the verge of being started. United Nations and other countries are doing nothing more than appreciating the Ukraine army and President. For the people of Ukraine, The world war has already started.
