Gayatri Somvanshi replied to the topic Men are better in sciences while women are better in the humanities. in the forum Women & New Roles 2 years, 10 months ago
We all know how people often say that boys are fit for engineering and girls are meant for jobs which mainly contain table and chair and anyways the only need to look after children so they don’t need to study so called big measures.
But we often forget that every person has choice and talent and according to which he / she has his own right to…[Read more] -
Gayatri Somvanshi replied to the topic Universities need more female teachers…. in the forum Women & New Roles 2 years, 10 months ago
I am very agreeable to this opinion. But when we say women I mean an empowered woman. Be unfortunately I am seeing that still to some extent women teachers themselves do the gender discrimination. Since we are talking about gender discrimination let’s not forget how a female student is always not seen worthy of responsibility and many a times…[Read more]

Gayatri Somvanshi replied to the topic Impact of gender discrimination on a Woman's Mental Health in the forum Mental Health 2 years, 10 months ago
Well the feeling of not being wanted and feeling of not being loved and feeling of someone looking at you as a burden is already a great deal to deal with because being a girl you are already decriminalized since the day you come into this world. Though I know the world has now changed and girls are actually being wanted. There are couples who…[Read more]

Gayatri Somvanshi replied to the topic Why is work-life balance predominantly preached to women? in the forum Gender Justice 2 years, 10 months ago
Well nowadays in the pretense of praising women that only they have power to multitask and balance their work life and family, women are told to get a golden mediation between personal life. We can say as much as we have developed ourselves and women not proudly firmly grounded their flags on almost all the top posts. Still, we don’t deny that…[Read more]

Gayatri Somvanshi replied to the topic Women and Choice of Employment in the forum Employment Opportunities 2 years, 10 months ago
Okay so when it comes to choosing a type of career and employment women are still practically restricted from choosing the profession they want. But as we know history, how reluctantly people are educating their daughters, so sometimes for any girl even receiving and reaching till graduation is sufficient.
First we all know people didn’t even…[Read more] -

Okay so we always hear all those neighborhood aunties always saying that even if you become successful in your career still a woman has to handle the sole responsibility of handling a household. We all know how time and time again we are always told that our basic job is to look after our home.
It’s not really ironic to hear these demands like how…[Read more] -

Gayatri Somvanshi replied to the topic Shouldn't the legal age for marriage be the same for girls and boys both? in the forum Gender Justice 2 years, 10 months ago
Yes . According to me, yes there needs to be an equal age limit for boys and girls to marry. In Fact I would say the Ideal age limit should be at least 24-25 for marrying. The reason is at least both of them would be financially independent and educated and matured by that age.
I don’t really know the logic behind why the girls ‘ age limit is…[Read more] -

I would say we have come a long way ahead compared to ancient times. The situation now is much better than ancient women’s. Today’s women are a lot more confident and intolerant than in ancient times.
There has been a lot of evolution ever since ancient times and women have learned to fight for themselves. It’s really remarkable to witness how…[Read more] -

Gayatri Somvanshi replied to the topic Why are brides 'given away' at weddings? in the forum Sexism & Patriarchy 2 years, 10 months ago
It’s not really a change to have such a concept when the girl itself in her maternal home is treated as an object that can be given away or treated as an outsider. It’s also amusing how our society proudly proclaims kanyadan as ‘shresth daan’ and bidaai as the most emotional phase when these customs are actually objectifying women.

Gayatri Somvanshi replied to the topic Why a women is expected to be compromising more in a marriage? in the forum Sexism & Patriarchy 2 years, 10 months ago
Answer to this question is very simple because she is a woman. Because She is a woman it’s her duty to comply with her husband and she is meant to only cook and take care of children. As I said in our society woman is merely an object and property and is expected to sacrifice everything for a marriage to be able to work.

Gayatri Somvanshi replied to the topic Is there equality in marriages? in the forum Gender Justice 2 years, 10 months ago
Honestly my answer is a big NO. So far India has still not achieved equality in marriages. People still live in the misconceptions that girls should be married within specific ages. There are many families who marry girls as soon as they turn 18 or even before that by forging a fake age because for them girls are a burden.
But the case is…[Read more] -
