Anika replied to the topic Why are women so emotional? in the forum General Discussions 2 years, 9 months ago
Everyone experiences emotions. It is not anything new. To say that no one faces emotions is wrong (unless you have alexithymia).
We all experience emotions, be it happiness, sadness or anger.
Women are often labelled the emotional gender. Crying is often associated to women. Pop culture always portrays women as the emotional types who always cry…[Read more] -
Anika replied to the topic Impact of gender discrimination on a Woman's Mental Health in the forum Mental Health 2 years, 9 months ago
Gender Discrimination refers to any instance where a person is denied an opportunity or judged because of their gender. Gender Discrimination is found everywhere and any gender can face it. However, it is mostly faced by women as they’re still seen as the inferior sex and still denied opportunities because others feel they’re not capable.
Often,…[Read more] -
Anika replied to the topic Shouldn't the legal age for marriage be the same for girls and boys both? in the forum Gender Justice 2 years, 9 months ago
The current minimum age of marriage is 18 for girls and 21 for boys respectively. I feel that the minimum age should be increased for girls. The current minimum age for which it’s set propagates the idea that women are more mature than men, so it is fine that they’re getting married at the age of 18 which is wrong.
I feel that it would be better…[Read more] -
Anika replied to the topic The need to incorporate gender neutral (or gender inclusive) pronouns in every day speech and writing. in the forum Gender Justice 2 years, 9 months ago
Although this might be puzzling to some, some people use gender neutral pronouns such as they/them because they aren’t comfortable using the regular gendered pronouns such as she or he. Many might criticize this saying that it’s wrong to use gender neutral pronouns in the singular pronoun because they think it sounds grammatically incorrect. They…[Read more]

Anika replied to the topic Why are Indian women expected to be 'homely'? in the forum Sexism & Patriarchy 2 years, 9 months ago
Homely means simple or unsophisticated. Which means, society wants women to be simple and not too fashionable in their tastes. They do not want them to be opinionated (especially if they have an opinion which is different from the opinions their spouse or in-laws have!), they cannot be modern, they have to know how to do housework well and respect…[Read more]

Anika replied to the topic Why aren't women considered funny? in the forum General Discussions 2 years, 9 months ago
Women are considered to be the least humorous gender. When you think of comedians, how many of them can you name? How many female comedians can you name? It would be very less in number compared to the amount of male comedians you can recall.
In fact, there is a lack of female comedians found in this world. There are many male comedians but there…[Read more] -

Although it was very historic and many queer people gained more confidence, there was one thing which didn’t change: The heteronormative attitudes of the people of India. India…[Read more]
