Modern’ – the linguistic definition of this word can be given as someone who is inclined to practices that are different, if not in contradiction, to the traditional and archaic value system. Now if we go on to associate this word to today’s society, especially keeping the situation of women as the matter of our concern, it would be oddly difficult to justify this association. This is because, even though today’s society has progressed leaps and bounds in all the aspects, the change in its mentality, which is at the root of the matter in question, has left a great deal to be desired. The most relevant adjective that can still be associated with today’s society is ‘patriarchal’. Most of the men, even in this era, still believe themselves to be at the center of the women’s worlds.
There are many words like ‘women empowerment’, ‘gender equality’, ‘feminism’, etc. that are often found to be trending in recent times, but the number of people who actually understand the meaning of these words, as well as practice or apply these concepts, is downright pathetic. Our own history, through the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata, gives us ample proof that exploitation of women only leads to the eventual destruction of society. And it seems highly doubtful that we have learnt anything from the past.
There are many people who think otherwise; they would argue that the times are changing. They believe that women have finally started getting their due worth. Now a days, women have been successful in acquiring the senior most positions in multi-million-dollar companies; they hold the reins of entire nations. They can be seen biting gold in all kinds of competitive sports. Women today can be seen accomplishing much more than their recognized potential.
It is clear that women are not confined to the four walls of the kitchen anymore, but even today if you ask them if they are living as dignified a life as they aspired to live, you will hear more refusals than affirmations as their answer. This is because, even today, the inbox of the most successful female celebrity is filled with lewd and distasteful messages than that of appreciation and applause. This is because, the suggestions of a female board member are still scoffed at, at least initially. This is because, the sports attire of a female athlete is still sexualized. This is because, a village girl getting an opportunity to educate herself is still considered lucky. This is because, even the mention of the natural, biological phenomenon of menstruation is still being scandalized. These reasons are just the tip of the iceberg, including the obvious ones like a glaring increase in the number of rape crimes, sexual abuse, molestation, eve teasing, trafficking; the list goes on and on.
Now, if you ask why does exploitation of women still prevail after all these years, the answer to this question is that, while few of the practices that were followed during the ancient times could partially be justified during that time, the people even today have failed to move on and change with time as there has been little evolution in the mentality and beliefs concerning the treatment of women in our society. One of the examples to support the statement is that a woman still needs permission from her in-laws to work, or wear a certain type of clothes after marriage. The distribution of roles and responsibilities between men and women that is prevalent even today does not justify the modernization and progression that the society claims to be living in during this era at all. And it’s not only the men who are at fault here. A considerable part of the women fraternity today has adapted to these
problems to an extent that they have become completely oblivious to the existence of this issue and have knowingly or unknowingly contributed to the exploitation of their own gender.
So how do we change this? Passing favourable laws, giving out benefits, offering reservations, etc. won’t eradicate this issue completely. To remove this problem, we must attack the root of it, and thus work towards bringing about a change in the mentality and thought process of the society. It can be an excruciatingly slow and long process. But reforming the educational and socio-economic system of the society to make it more favourable to the upliftment of the status of women can be a good start. Otherwise, we will still have to live with the irony that, even though they are referred to as ‘the fairer sex’, women hardly have anything that could be considered fair to them.

    Women exploitation in modern society

‘’ Women are only exploited group in history to have been idealized into powerlessness’’

The world is growing and evolving day by day the one issue which is constant not changing is that women’s exploitation. Living in the 21st century many women are still not valued, appreciated, and not given the opportunity. There is no change in social behavior towards women, many people still have an ideology that is women are made for household chores and birth givers, and they have no liberty to make the decision for themselves. Every other day women face the problems of eve-teasing, sexual harassment, crimes, molestation, abortion, and whatnot. There are still some women who are fighting for their justice but there is no set period how much women have to fight to get their justice. It’s become the mindset of the people that women exploitation just a normal thing there will be hype in media for few days and after some time it will be all normal.
Why only women have to struggle to change their own world? Why can’t our male dominating society try to change? She has to stop tolerating exploitation and start to raise her voice for justice and this will encourage other women. The modern world should be defined as a place where all are treated equally and women are respected. Society has to stop being judgmental towards modern women and stat evolving. There is the solution that every woman should be given higher education, awareness about sex education, and also the have the knowledge about laws and orders. The most important thing is women need to come forward to end patriarchal standards and beliefs. Every government needs to make sure that women feel safe and sound, also strict laws are imposed for the culprits. Those people should feel fears while doing things wrong with the women. Poor investigations and false assessment of the evidence need to change. Men have always got everything easily in their plate but women had to fight for everything she wants. For instance, Men have always got first preference for promotions in comparison to women, just because they can work for the long run, not in terms of their ability. But these are some pre assumptions about women which have made by our so
Mental violence is the new way of torturing and exploiting getting them depressed so that women commit suicide, many women get anxiety attacks. People body shaming, constantly making vulgar statements on their character, criticizing their work knowingly.
The root cause of exploitation that children learn what he /she sees in the surrounding. Boys are not bothered about making their own food or washing their clothes. Because they believe their mother is made to such things and after marriage, their wife will do it. But if we taught the children at a small age that you have to do your things on your own it will bring changes. Because changes are important to have greater impact on society. But there is also the bright side that people have slowly started to accept the changes which women trying to makes for ages.
We all know Rome was not built in a day, just like a change can’t happen in a day. But we can always try to make small daily changes like supporting women to reaching higher heights, speak up against exploitation, Making people understand orthodox are just some misconceptions thought made by a society which leads to exploitation.

Our country and it’s culture is changing day by day in keeping with today’s new generation but the thinking of individuals and their behaviour remains the identical. In today’s generation as in diversion the ladies need to face all the difficulties in life. Within the village the ladies are married in their early age. The women aren’t sent to high school whether or not the fogeys have money, they only provide education to their sons. They think that in future sons can only take sure of themselves. Women face sex offense and violence in today’s modern generation. Women doesn’t feel safety in our modern society. The ladies cannot walk alone in street in night because they’ll be the victim of sexual assault. Whether or not the people are roaming around the violence isn’t stopping. We can take the instance of Nirbhaya case. The case occured in 2012 and also the rapists got the punishment in 2020. It gives chance to other rapists because they know that the government can’t do anything. Same happens in 2019 named Priyanka Reddy case. The rapists did not have any fear and that they committed a criminal offense. The rich people are exploiting women for dowry. The ladies are exploited in various natures. They became the victim of prostitution, rape, murder etc.
“If women are educated their countries become stronger and more prosperous”. This quote reflects that the ladies must incline education all told parts of the country. In today’s modern generation men are dominant. The person is the head of the family not women. If the ladies dies then the boys can easily marry the another woman but if the husband dies the ladies need to face the cruel culture of the society. They need to wear white saree and couldn’t attend any functions. They’re considered as sin of the society. But nobody understand that she is the same women who take care of all the members of the family and play role as an honest wife , good mother, good daughter and good daughter-in-law. If she commits one mistake everyone blames her. This is often our cruel society. Why this happen in our society? It’s because we people have created this from the start period. The thinking of individuals remains the identical, only by wearing modern clothes and jewellery doesn’t mean that the person can’t be modern main thing is that the thinking should be broad minded.
If woman works or do employment it’s her duty she should be sure of her relations too. After doing employment and returning a home she prepared all the dishes and after serving her relations her serves herself. There’s nobody to assist her. If the uneducated couples know that they’re visiting give birth to girl child they force to do abortion and kill that baby. Why this is often happening in our society. They think that only boy child can give all of them the happiness. It’s very wrong. The people in our society aren’t aware of the importance of girls empowerment. We must always organise different programmes to create the aware and teach them how we should always treat our women.

There are innumerable powers hidden in the literal meaning of the word woman, which are in every corner of the society in the form of someone’s sister or mother or wife or grandmother, even though India is a patriarchal country, it is more worshiped of goddess. We worship women’s power but the place of women in the society seems to be relatively improved but in reality they have been kept in the dark. Today, in the present age, a girl can’t stand up and shout and say that my menstrual cycle is going on, or a girl can’t bring the envelope of a sanitary pads from the drug store without hesitation. In fact, the society consists of me and you, only social media has become aware, not the users of social media, women still have to cover their faces and walk on the streets very carefully, why? Is the law of society only for them, and for those who are publicly killing their wives with screws in the streets in daylight, for those who are raping a child in the dark of night, is spending two days in jail enough? Today we are living in the 21st century, many of us proud to say that we are very advanced, we have given equal status to girls, we have given equal place to girls, in fact we have given equal status or social place, actually we haven’t give them, they have created their own rights, Today, even if a girl is standing and walking down the street, five people will look at her and say something to her, why? We call the earth as ‘Dharitri’, because the earth holds us, the boy who is killing his wife today, the boy who is killing his mother, the boy who is raping a baby today, that boy has also born in the womb of a women, The fact is that no one has been able to lift the black veil of Kisnoskriti in the eyes of the society. Like a black hole, deep in the abyss, all the prostitutes in our country are looked down upon in society, But the amazing thing today is how many human beings are enduring the lust of the animal in their own body, and without the soil of that brothel but the idol of mother Durga and is not made, Today, the girl who has been raped, the girl knows how greedy that animal is. Society is immersed in today and darkness, its awakening will be happened one day, when every woman will wake up, the day a girl like Elon smeal will be born, the day when there will be no excuse for feminism, the day when there will be nothing called as rape, the awakening will happen, and it must be happened. I believe that a woman is not just a decorative object or an animal that works like an ass, that I will take her if I give her so much money and so much jewelry in marriage, or leave her in the house, woman is a Power , the man who has been able to own this power has been established in his life , that is why it is said , “there is a woman behind every man’s success”.

    Women Exploitation in Modern Society

    Introduction
Society is changing in the terms of technology, civilization, and so on for the betterment of mankind but, as society is changing women have to face several difficulties to reach a certain level. As a result of these struggles, women suffer from various problems. Women’s Exploitation in Modern Society is one of the most important issues. It is considered as exploitation of women because of their gender and gender only. They are not getting enough respect in our society. They are struggling with their security issues. Their freedom of decision-making and freedom to live independently is restricted. Feminist Movement has a long history in India. Women’s conditions have changed, there is equal opportunity to women in fields of education and jobs but the representation and political empowerment of women remains low.
Role of Society in Women Exploitation
There are many stages of women’s exploitation in developing, third-world societies. The major reasons that can be attributed to the cause of such exploitation are, education system followed in every country of the world, which until now is still passing a value judgment on women’s dressing sense by insisting that no sleeveless dress can ever be worn and that too wearing skirts till their knees would so ever fetch a woman decent living. Women have been exploited throughout history and are taken for granted. The oppression of women is still found in every society on the planet. It takes many forms, from female genital mutilation to domestic violence to unequal pay for equal work. And even when we speak about paid or unpaid labor, be it giving birth or cooking for a male partner, women are always reported to do more than their male counterparts.
Women/Girls are discriminated against by every part of society. They think that girls are useless or for decoration purposes only. Girls are not safe from being killed by parents, from the lecherous behavior of society, and from being killed in the womb. In many cases, girl child cause headache for their parents as they cannot afford to marry them or they don’t have enough money for their marriage or dowry, etc. A woman is the creator of all human life, and both a mother and a father are essential for the healthy development of a child. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual human beings, and men and women should not be treated as if they were interchangeable. A man committing domestic violence against his wife or girlfriend violates the integrity of the home.
How can we bring a change?
The most unfortunate fact of the modern world is that women are still being treated as slaves. Everywhere they work for exploitation and abuse. They show great courage and valor to stand in the face of this extreme oppression. They sacrifice their lives to make a living, but those who exploit them don’t even realize their rights. In the era of globalization and with the revolution in means of communication and information technology, the media role has become more crucial for women empowerment in Indian modern society. The media can make a difference by exposing the evils of society and holding those accountable, from teachers to leaders. High-level education towards Women Empowerment and Woman Safety should be mandatory in Schools and Colleges.
    Conclusion
Yes, we have equal rights on paper but discrimination is still prevalent and most women are unaware of it. They don’t realize that they are being exploited or that they are part of the problem. The issue of sexual harassment, sexual objectification, fair pay and benefit, victim-blaming, domestic violence, etc. is so prevalent in our society. Because it’s so common women tend to think that they are a norm in our society rather than an exception. Empowering women is the best way to bring them forward. Education will play a vital role in empowering women. Attempting to push women forward means we need to pave paths for them to walk on. With education as the key, we can’t wait for a brighter future. We must teach our boys not to feel vindicated because they’re men and not to feel superior to women. Charity begins at home and one day we will change this hideous mindset of society.

Women – who are worshipped as a goddess, who are backbone of society , who are the reason for the existence of the society are sadly have no existence in this society. The society a place made by people having same beliefs and mind-sets still believes that the Male are superior to the women and can do whatever they want As they wish we all live in a male dominated society no matter what a woman perceives of herself the society don’t care about what she want they think of woman as an object made to please them on whom they can force their rules and laws and object to be controlled who is not supposed to rise her voice because if she did who knows what the other person could do to her. She can get abused by the ones she feel safe with.
In day to day life, we always came across the news of women abused , harassing , domestic violence and rape. But what we do we read that page of newspaper feel pity for the woman or girl for some time and then we move on and what we are supposed to do to make the people aware that women are not toys or objects they are also human they have feeling to they also feel the need of love and support they also want to be independent and free they also have dreams . In today’s era still girls are forced to have sex, still girls are been forced to be a pornstar for the desire of the society which never ever accept them.
We all are aware about our past, how women are exploited. For that time people used to say women are not aware or are afraid or that it is male dominating society but what about the current era ? is this a non – male dominating society ? for me – no , even now males are priority of society. Violation against women still remain a major concern and the most privacy form of human rights violation worldwide the violation can take place at any moment of women’s life span and its not a problem of anyone country but the whole world still women are facing difficulty in every second turn of their life . As in India we can hear a lot of cases regarding rape od small girl , In US man can claim paternal right. In Iran wives need permission to travel abroad without their husband permission. In Arabia women aren’t allowed to drive .
In this modern era women are just on the basis of their dress a woman has to think twice before she says or do anything. Even now society don’t accept a divorced woman according to them these women are not allowed to live there life freely . Even now girl who who’s been raped the society don’t see her as a victim, but as a culprit (No matter she is a 5 year old girl or 45 year old woman , she is married or unmarried) .Even now women are treated as a weaker gender . We still discriminate between a boy and a girl, they are taught that girl has to do house chores and boys have to go out and earn . The girl is asked a lot of questions when she leave the house or return back to home from outside but on the other hand a boy can roam freely without any question I even in the night . why can’t parents ask their daughter to make herself strong, why can’t they taught her self Defence?
I think it’s high time people need to know that girls are not weakest part they are the strongest part . Now it’s not only time to rise a voice but it’s time time to adapt small changes . May be these changes will take some time to show their results but in future they do.
Now it’s time we have to realise the both genders (males and females) are equal to one another. People need to change their mind-set with the time and it’s not like that changes have not take place, if we compare the history with present there were many revolutions and protest that have taken place to give the females a place in the society . Women are given voting rights and the dowry system is also changing with the time and there are many more changes that has been taken place. “Yes , we are changing but why these changes are so slow” We not only need to modernise the society but to modernize thinking the generation and the laws of the society.

“Any society that fails to harness the energy and creativity of its women is a huge disadvantage in the modern world”- Tian Wei
Throughout the ages, women have been subjected to exploitation. Though the modern world puts up a pretty picture saying that women now are much privileged, the reality is they still get exposed to humiliation and crimes against women seem never-ending. Every day there are news of women being raped and molested throughout the country and it takes ages for a woman to seek justice. Women are considered to be at fault for their choice of clothing, the time when they return home, etcetera. Women are shamed for menstruating every month. 1 out of 5 girls in India have to drop out of school as they have no clue what to do in their first period. 71% of adolescent girls in India do not know what period is until they get it for the first time. A major part of India considers menstruation as dirty and impure. Menstruating women aren’t allowed in places of worship, they aren’t allowed to enter the kitchen and the list is never-ending. Young girls are subjected to internalised misogyny by their mothers and aunts. Although women are provided good education, there is constant pressure for marriage after a certain age. As soon as girls turn into an adult they are asked to do household chores to secure a good position in their “in-laws” house. Women are seen as the more emotional gender and entitled as “compromisers”.Compromising and staying silent is not synonymous with love and respect. Women can indeed bear tremendous pain, but that doesn’t give others the right to shame women for not tolerating pain. It is high time we start believing in womens’ pain and not terming them as mere “tantrums”. Of all the crimes in the world, domestic violence against women has the highest repeat rate. It is seen as the primary duty of a woman to take care of their families while the men hold a higher position. It is often said that women have to seek permission for each and everything which limits access to several things. The definition of “femininity” needs to change. Women who are muscular, less homely, ambitious, opinionated are not seen as the so-called “perfect woman”. Whenever comes to a woman’s personal choices their parents think more about society than about her. Instead of moulding her how society wants her to be, they should focus on changing their mindset. A woman is shamed if she wants to be a mother early, if she wants to be a mother late in life or not a mother at all. It’s the 21st century and they are still questioned if they don’t want to change the surname or work after marriage. The unrealistic beauty standards have a huge impact on women’s mental and physical health. Not being able to have a certain kind of figure makes women less confident and insecure while trying to fit in a certain body type some women starve themselves and some eat too much. Women are shamed for being open about their sexuality. We as a society need to accept that women can have sexual desires which they can practice and women can be asexual too. Marital rape is still legal in India. It levitates the idea that marriage makes a woman for her husband’s sexual property and she must fulfil his sexual needs. Consent is a big concern. Women are still deprived of higher positions in workplaces and the “wage gap” is also a huge problem. Women are paid less for the same work as their male counterparts.
In recent times there have been feminist movements all across the world addressing these issues. I hope people contribute to make the world a better place for women.

Throughout the history of mankind, women have been the ‘lesser gender’, more so in the last century. Their role has been thought to be limited to nurturing, caregiving and serving; it can be said that the purpose of women was only to be child rearing objects. In recent history although the feminism movement has been taking big strides, the woes of women around the world are too violent and heart clenching to be ignored.
A woman’s identity has been time and time again reduced only to her gender; she has had to fight the world to prove her worth. In modern society. Women’s exploitation can be seen in two forms- one is an obvious physical one, and the other is the subtle social exploitation she experiences. The examples of social exploitation can be seen almost everywhere. Corporates still prefer to hire men over women, assuming that they would leave work once they get busy with married life and children. The underlying sexism and misogyny are more than evident in this situation. Women are thought to be weaker and more delicate than men and hence seen as less worthy of being granted opportunities.
Women all over the world today are forced to live in fear. Every single woman that you know has been afraid to walk alone on empty streets, has carried a key or pepper spray with her for safety and had watched her every word when interacting with men to make sure they don’t say something that angers them. This world of anxiety and fear is completely foreign to men. The daily flood of negative and loathsome news about rape and murder have left women no choice but to be scared.
These are just the few ways in which women are being exploited in our so called progressive modern society. Yes, women have come a long way in recognizing their autonomy and rights, but our society is nowhere near to a safe haven for women.
