I think it is another sexist statement that women are emotional than men. It is weird how there is always a line of comparison drawn between sexes to act in society. I think we all have independent emotions, and it depends upon us how to work on them. One can say that it depends on how a parent nurtures their child. Any emotional intelligence is not gender-based; instead, it is environment-based.

Before sharing my opinions on this topic, I thought of researching a bit, and here is what I got. Even Google draws a line of gender biases between men and women. Like one of the website links suggested that women are more emotionally stable than men. Honestly, it is funny. Even it said that women are emotional because they have periods. That is highly illogical. The only thing is that a woman is given space to express herself in society more openly than a man. One would not tell a man to cry openly; instead, the same suggestion could be passed on to a woman. The gender biases enroll never-ending barriers to emotional intelligence.

Thereby, women are not so emotional. It depends on the perspective of how one wishes to witness it. We all have the same emotions, and we are in charge of expressing them.

Generally women are very expressive but many of the women don’t express their emotions they keep between herself only due to which people don’t understand them. Women are very emotional than men because of female hormones like estrogen it affect with emotions. That doesn’t mean men are not emotional many of the men are sensitive and emotional. But men generally don’t express their emotions because of society thinking like men don’t cry, “they are man” they don’t cry and all. This is not justified at all everyone has right to express on their own way. Their is nothing bad about getting emotional. Due to society thinking many of the men express their emotions in different ways rather than crying. Women are emotional because they think lot about their career, family and lot more things due to which they overthink and get stressed. And women gets so emotional when there is any happy news then also may of the women express their way by cry and smile both. Women are emotional also due to society stereotypes their comparison between men and women. It is not like that women are not strong it’s about they don’t treat both equally. In some family also if men score high than they will appreciated and if women score high they don’t even say anything about it this hurts women because of not treating them equally. Women are strong to handle worst situations but many of the times women don’t treat equally like in relationship also women has to compromise on many things than men. In Family also females are used to do household work due to which it somewhere affects women. Men are always asked to focused on their career and in that age women are taught household chores. Because of which women feel bad family don’t support her. Somewhere emotions are not only about hormones but also the way women’s are treated.

Women are commonly assumed to outperform men in the treatment of emotional information. This study has explored whether females superiority exists in a naturalistic social-emotional environment in emotional information processing, if so, what the temporal dynamics underlie. The reactions in behavior and electrophysiology were recorded as individuals played interpersonal gambling with feedback supplied to opponents’ facial emotions. The results showed the effect of monetary feedback on the evaluation of results modulated by the emotional indicators. This modulation was much more evident in females: the furious expressions of opposing women enhanced the risky tendency of females and decreased the reward positive range (RewP). These findings show that women are responsive in genuine interpersonal interactions to emotional expressions, which occurs both in early motivational satiating and late cognitive assessment phases of feedback processing.
In various studies, women have an emotional recognition, social sensitivity, and empathy test that is higher than males. Neuroimaging studies have studied the findings more closely and found that women use more areas of the brain with mirror neurons than men when emotions are processed. The way in which men and women function is structured differently. The guys prefer to use the left side more. The men use both sides of their brains. The left side of our brain has logical thinking and problem resolution skills, whereas the right side has responsibility for prosodic processes, creativity, face perception, and emotional generation. The left side of our brain is therefore responsible for our IQ while the right side is responsible for our EQ. Women have a more advanced system of limbo. The limbic system addresses human features like behavior, feelings, and memory. It enables individuals to better experience and express their feelings and to connect readily with others. Although it is the problem, it opens the doors to depression, particularly during the hormonal transition phase of your menstrual cycle and pregnancy. So a lady can seem too passionate and temperamental throughout such times.

Men and women, both being human have emotions inside them. Emotions like love, compassion, guilt and sorrow. Then why are women considered as more emotional being than men? The reason being that women are allowed to outwardly express these emotions while men are simply not.

For years, we have been told that women are more empathetic and emotional than men, but we often tend to miss a footnote here – GENDER SETREOTYPE and GENDER ROLE EXPECTATION. When on one hand, women have been given the normative freedom to express her emotions, on the other hand men are told, that a display of emotions is a sign of weakness that does not comply with the societies boxed in ideas of masculinity. Men are expected to be invulnerable and competent which often results in the generation of their emotions through violence.

The idea of regarding women as ‘emotional beings’ has been so standardized that if a women doesn’t show her emotions in a certain situation, in a way society expects her to, then she is termed as ‘cold hearted’ or ‘un-compassionate’. Men and women experience similar kinds of emotions but their way of expressing it is far more than similar, and here is the reason why. For instance, If you are a woman and you react to a emotional situation by crying , people would certainly come, pat your back and show their compassion to you. While a man in a similar kind of situation may not get the similar kind of treatment. People would probably tell him to ‘get himself together’ and ‘stop being a girl’. In an attempt to not being termed as a ‘sensitive’ and ‘vulnerable’ person, a man tends to hide his emotions or rather not show his emotions at all. Men in our society are expected to be the ‘comforter’ and are not given the freedom to express their emotions and be the one getting comfort.
So, is it really possible for us to show our true emotions when we continue to bind ourselves within the confines of femininity and masculinity? Is it fair to say that women are more emotional than men, when our society doesn’t even allow the latter, the right to be emotional? We need to give women the freedom to be bold and vulnerable, whatever she desires to be and we need to give the freedom to men to be emotional, dramatic and empathetic without criticising them. Our emotions should not be stereotyped.

Women are emotional. A phrase so casually uttered that it has now become one of the biggest stereotypes. And what good have stereotype ever done?

All human beings regardless of their gender are emotional beings. We have to ability to feel things and express our emotions through words or actions. So why is being emotional consider such a bad thing in our society? Why have we, as a society, determined that showing emotions is a sign of weakness? In fact, holding our emotions inside for too long, and getting affected by them is what makes us weak. Now coming to women, are women really emotional? Of course they are, just like other human beings of different genders. But when someone says women are emotional, more often than not, they are not just describing women, they are probably trying to show that women are weak. But that is not so! All human beings are allowed to be emotional, whether men or women. This harmful stereotype about women has only led to men being highly secretive about their emotions because they fear judgement from the society, and that has only led to their poor mental health.

So it’s time for us to understand that firstly, we are emotional beings, we are supposed to be emotional. And secondly, being emotional is not a sign of weakness. Once our society understands this clearly, then only people would feel safe and welcomed to share their emotions and that will only lead to the betterment of their mental health.

All humans have emotions so why are only women considered emotional? Maybe because Women are preconceived to be emotional and thus weakness is associated with their personality. This is complete rubbish because men have the same emotions as women. Without emotions, they wouldn’t be doing whatever it is that they are doing. Women are considered more emotional because society has given a tag to women as “emotional”, there are no more reasons. When a man shows emotions, he is considered as “feminine”. Society has set up the base for every gender so when a woman shows emotions, she has “feelings” when a woman doesn’t show emotions she’s considered as “emotionless or cruel”. When a man shows emotions, he’s insulted and called by “girly or womanish” names. When a man doesn’t show emotions then only he’s a man. People aren’t emotional because of their gender. They’re emotional because that’s integral to being a human being. It is up to a person how they want to express their emotions or not. Certain emotions are suitable for men to express, such as anger. While others like sadness are not. It is suited for women to feel vulnerable but not strong. All these rubbish notions have been set up by society but we need to understand that Emotions have nothing to do with femininity and masculinity. Everyone has the right to feel whatever they are feeling and should not be judged on the basis of their degree of emotions.
