The core ideas of second-wave feminism were rejected. The core idea of second-wave feminism is that gendered oppression is common to all women. The question arose if second-wave feminism represented the common grievance of women worldwide. Did it represent the interest of all women? The third wave feminism found the problems in second-wave feminism that second-wave feminism for two women of the whole world under one group by showing that they all have the same grievances. The reality is that these women didn’t have the same grievances.
The new thing which was found by third-wave feminism was that women faced operations not just based on gender but also based on their caste, class, race and ethnicity. Focusing on one universal category of women seemed undemocratic. Postmodernism is a theory that rejects modernism and says that there should be no generalisation. There were no universal categories like second-wave feminism that put women of the whole world under one category.
Key points of third-wave postmodern feminism:
    Non-universalist-
    1. According to third-wave postmodern feminism the man-made categories like men and women, sex /gender masculine and feminine didn’t have any value.
    Intersectionality-
    1. According to this point women’s operation is not based on a single factor of gender.
    2. A woman’s condition is determined by the intersection of many factors including race, class, caste, ethnicity etcetera.
    Cultural relativism:
    1. Different cultures have different practices and traditions.
    2. One cannot make a judgement about other’s cultures without experiencing them.
    3. So it is not right to judge women’s oppression worldwide by analysing just one western culture.
    Plurality and diversity:
    1. Being different does not mean being abnormal.
    2. Diverse voices and diverse positions should be accepted.
    3. If someone is neither male nor female, it does not mean that they are abnormal.
    Implications of third-wave feminism:
    1. Diversification of feminism
    A. Black feminism:
    • Black women do not face discrimination based on sex only. They face discrimination based on their race.
    • It mentioned that the experiences of black women are different from white women.
    B. Postcolonial feminism:
•When colonialism was end date then this form of feminism was witnessed.
    • The non-white women were affected by long-lasting political, economic and cultural impacts of colonialism.
    C. Dalit feminism:
    • Dalit feminism was purely Indian feminism. It focused on upper-middle-class women.
    • Dalit women’s interests were excluded from mainstream feminism.
    2. Weakening of feminist politics:
    • Third where families were important the concept of feminism and various type of feminism flourished so it rejected the unity approach.
    • After third wave feminism women of the world were very divided into various groups according to their grievances.
    Postfeminism and postmodern feminism:
Postmodern communism was an idea that arose in America during the 1980s. The proponents of this idea were of the view that society has achieved gender equality, feminism has achieved its goal. So it is time to move away from feminism.

Feminist thinking and culture are more and more present over the world, adapting it to a range of contexts. The electoral fight and the second wave campaign for ERA may be described more easily than the Third Wave, a more recent and wide-ranging increase in feminist engagement. We need to comprehend first the U.S. after the second wave of ‘sex wars,’ to understand the Third Wave. The name of the “sexual war,” was the open discussion of pornography and sexual activity among parties within feminism. Feminists from anti-pornography wanted the porn industry limited, as they considered it was solely for men and promoted violence against women.
In a generation grown up with feminism, the Third Wave of Feminism took for granted the hard-earning achievements of the first and the second wave. Third Wave feminists quickly criticized previous feminists and pointed out their movements’ shortcomings. There was often an accusation that the movements were exclusive and minority marginalized in the mainstream. Thus, the ThirdWave mainly aimed to bring communities to life, which were previously excluded from feminist ideals. It focused on race and gender and came out of the second wave’s sex-positive discussions. The Third Wave of feminism concentrated heavily on women’s rights to reproduction. Feminists championed the freedom of a woman to make her own decisions about her body and said that access to birth management and abortion is a fundamental right. In 2004 a big protest march named the ‘march for women’s life” was conducted in Washington Dc when the Supreme Court upheld the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act (PABA) and limitations on abortion. The mark demonstrated how important the topic of reproductive rights was to the Third Wave, attended by activists, second and third-wave feminists, and celebrities.
The Third Wave of Feminism has encountered numerous criticisms from being overly extreme to devaluing the efforts of its predecessors. The first and second waves were less united. It is less obvious and more controversial. The fundamental need for feminism was put into doubt in the 21st century itself.

They also examined the position and not finished work from the second-wave feminists, third-wave feminists fought and raise questions against racism, patriarchy sexism, and classism they put the discussion on it they want to remove this discrimination from the society, they started publishing magazines and journals. The intention and spirit of the third wave were shown by honesty, humor and vaginal monologues and feelings women sexuality vagina related topic, birth and rape were expressed openly by third-wave feminists there was a famous guerrilla group a group of women artists who wore masks to expose the female stereotypes and the discrimination against the women it really created an effect in the wave it was very unique idea to express their anger against patriarchy, the third wave feminists redefined women and young girls as powerful, assertive and in control of own sexuality. This gave rise to powerful women iconic singers. The girls started feeling liberal and more valuable. The third wave was more effective in the USA, UK countries than India. The third-wave feminist also faced criticism the debates were raised on women’s sexual behavior and it was very criticizing but girl power worked.
