Women being free in Indian society is a kind of joke. with the kind of situation revealing right now regarding the gender inequalities, it would be video article to say that women are truly free in our Indian society. right from their home to their workplace, women have to face numerous kinds of discrimination and harassment on a daily basis. basic requirements like education, awareness about rights, water and fenitization facilities, etc are not being provided by two more majorities of women. Even if a woman is living in the privileged part of society, there are also are not able to live freely true sense. they are so bound by the patriarchal setup of society that in every part of the life, they have to kind of seek permissions from the opposite gender. with over 70 years of our independence, it is a shame that we have not been able to fill the gender gap effectively. despite it being erected by our fundamental rights and instructed under Directive principles in our constitution. the situation of women is abysmally low even in present times.
In order to correct the present situation, it is very important that we attack the age-old patriarchal set of society. For doing this a very strong political will is required which rides above the vote bank politics and think about the Welfare of the society in a true sense. We must empower women with proper education and arm Dam with rights which they deserve. we must question the gender inequality and gender roles that are present in our society and replace them with something modern that truly respects their rights.

Recent studies show the prevailing situation in the “free” india reports an average of 88 rape cases per day, 500 acid attack cases in the year 2019, 86percent women facing domestic violence in 2018-19. This is the freedom the women of the country have, safety, is not a part of their lives, even in their own houses they are getting abused and violated constantly. This is the reality of the country where women are worshiped in the temples but raped, murdered, threatened and beaten on the other hand.
Recent case in delhi, showed how a women was brutualy raped by her own husband on the streets just because she wanted to follow her career. This is the freedom, women got, where they are not even allowed to choose how they want to live.
Moreover when it comes to the people we choose for the well being of the country, they’re also caught blaming women for the violence women face, according to mr. Kailash Vijayvargiya, minister in madhya pradesh state government, “if the limit of morality is crossed by women, such cases will happen”, mr. Mulayam singh yadav comments that “boys make mistakes, they shouldn’t be hanged for this”. The politician we expect to provide us safety, justice and equality are here blaming women for the violence they face. This is the real face of india: a free country but not free for women to choose their paths and stand for themselves.

“Free” and “ Women” it seems like to opposite are spoken together.

Do you really think , India is a free?

And specially Indian women’s are free ?

It seems like a joke . A country where without permission women are not even allowed to go out , you called such country free . In India women are not allowed to think or speak , she is always supposed to act like a puppet only. Woman has to face discrimination in every second turn of her life , whether it be her home , school , society , workplace or anything else . It’s been 73 years of Indian Independence , but I don’t know when will India got actual independence – actual freedom . Independence is not only for the certain people of country, why women are not included in that . When a woman think of going somewhere first question she has to answer is :- Where are you going ? When will you come ? With whom you’re going ? Do you’re male friends are going along with you ? oh really ! so you are not allowed to go , Why are you wearing this dress ? this is so short ! it’s too deep , What will people say just think about them , how could you do this ! answer me ? these are the few questions which a woman has to answer every time. A house wife always need to ask her husband before spending money somewhere or purchasing something ..I don’t know but why can’t she buy anything without permission . In India in many places women can’t even have her meal without her husband permission . Giving vote , is a fundamental right of every person but even there a woman need permission . Women are not even allowed to keep her girl child , she has to abort her baby for the sake of her family .She is not asked for her marriage even she want to marry that man or not .
This is the harsh reality of Indian society . where women are not allowed to take her own decision , take her own stand . Don’t call India free , Indian women free .

We are in the 21st century but after so many years of independence, where girls cannot say they are free to live. Because we can still see in the news and read in newspapers girls are being raped and assaulted.
Even some girls are not free in their home in lockdown there were so many cases where girls is raped by their family members and they are helpless, also beaten up. Why girls always have asked their family members before making any choice for her if they want to pursue something in a career she is forced to get married and then she has to ask her husband before doing anything thing. If this is the definition of freedom then sorry we are still caged somewhere. Girls are not free to wear what they want also they have to come home before sunset so many restrictions in comparison to their no restrictions on them. But in developed cities in India has seen there some freedom to some extent because people are educated and they know how to behave also the police are present in the nighttime. There are this will only change when their government will directly give death punishment to rapists and when families will try to become open-minded. When people will start to respect girls and try to motivate girls in following their when there would be the equal treatment given to girls. That day every Indian girl will proudly say that I live in freely in my country.

How ‘Free’ Are Women in this ‘Free’ India?
India is not exactly the sort of ‘free’ it claims to be. In fact, women are absolutely the opposite of ‘free’ in this ‘free’ India. With a rapidly falling sense of respect, declining status of women in the society, fueled rising number of crimes against women and discrimination against women at every level possible, I do not think women are exactly ‘free’ in this ‘free’ India. It is a matter of shame that in the era of rising women, women are the ones not rising in our society.
To be very honest, India is far behind a world of nations with respect to a developing mindset, thoughts and an advancing society. It does not matter how much effort one has put into bringing the society at a higher level as it has made absolutely negligible difference to society. With every year passing, India is taking a step back. What’s hopeless is the fact that even the government has not been able to bring a change to this pro-men society. In fact, even the government gets carried away while making vital decisions.
They say, groping cannot be called sexual exploitation or abduction as long as there is no skin contact or sexual intention. Is this a new way of encouraging sick-minded rapists and womanizers, or rather make women ‘free?’ Talking about the households, women have absolutely no respect in eyes of their family members. Are they slaves? Are they servants? They’re treated like slaves every single moment of the day and made to work like servants because the society expects it out of them to be ‘homely.’ This is so not being ‘free.’
They’ve to make sure they wear ‘decent’ clothes to avoid being attacked by the ‘animals’ of the society. They’ve to make sure they do not make even an eye contact with any man outside of the home. They’ve to make sure they act inferior to men, because, men are so called ‘superior.’ Last but not the least, they’ve to keep in mind to keep shut and never speak up against this society. Women are definitely not ‘free’ in this so called ‘free’ India. In fact, another thing that is not ‘free’ in this ‘free’ India, is India itself.

Does Indian women are really free? Independence or freedom is self-reliance and self-sufficiency. Does women can travel late at night? The answer is big no. Women are not at all ‘free’ in this ‘free’ India. Women don’t even have freedom of wearing the clothes according to their will. It’s been years since india get Independence from British rule. But women are still not independent. Violence like rape, murder, trafficking, molestation, acid attacks, domestic violence etc against women are increasing day by day. In india women are struggling alot to get freedom to step out anytime. Women in the country want to have an atmosphere where they can go out, as and when they please, as a free citizen, without the fear of getting, molested or raped. After marriage women are forced to choose between their family and their jobs. In most of the cases women are forced to leave their jobs. Marital rape is still not considered as rape. Women are not at all free they have to change themselves according to the society. Women are still paid less in offices then men. There are a lot of stigma running in the society. Menstruation is still considered as the dirty and impure thing in women. Girls are dropped out of school due to beginning of menstruation. Feminists and women social workers are struggling alot to have equality and have freedom in society.
Women should be raised as independent not the victim of any violence. India cannot be considered free till women are free.

HOW ‘FREE’ ARE WOMEN IN THIS FREE INDIA?
‘If all men are born free, how is it that all women are born slaves?’ – Mary Astell
Free India, where all men have rights and opportunities to themselves but women are not even given chance to select their favorite color because she is a girl and according to society pink should be her color. This is just the basic example of how much free women really are!!
Before considering India as a whole, we should first consider how much is she free at her home, her surrounding, her society, and with her own people. And unfortunately, they are not safe at their homes also in some cases where this happens because of poverty, unemployment, lack of education and a major portion is the patriarchal society.
if women are home there are chances of the near ones or relatives torturing them, whether she is heading out somewhere then too then many rules are headed on them, before choosing any career she is questioned multiple things, not only these but if she is raped or suffered from violence, she is only blamed for being taking freedom for granted, and on other hand, we talk about women empowerment and safety.
Women can’t travel alone, she can’t study what she wants, she can’t choose her career over anything, she is not allowed to wear what she likes and more things like that are faced commonly by many women, but there are exceptions where some have changed their patriarchal thoughts and given women choices of doing whatever she likes and wants. Each day we witness discrimination and inequality, Cases of rapes, domestic violence, and sexual assault are increasing. In this scenario, no women are free because if it has not happened with them now, but there’s a fear of happening anytime.
There is a long way for women in India to be free because women are always under someone or something which becomes a hindrance for her and her safety and freedom.

I think women are barely free in Free India. The adjective could enhance the country, but it denies the fundamental women’s rights. The world enthroned a party when Kamala Harris became the U.S. Vice President because she was the first woman who had achieved this positive. Not only her gender played a role, but her color too. We live in a world where sexism and colorism preaches are a part of day-to-day life.

Amid lockdown, the scenario in the country drifted towards the worst situations. Domestic violence had increased, and so the sexual assault against women. State of affairs became worst for Dalit women. Neither the caste nor the gender supported their existence in the world. The upper castes in the village over the law and the judicial system in the region, i.e., the police, did not utter a word against it.

Contrarily, the current government offers support and schemes to protect women and their rights, but none is promising. The rape charges have increased in the last year, and most of them took place inside the household. Lately, a BJP politician commented that girls who wear ripped jeans invite men to rape them. There was another judge who said the same and objectified women as the subject to sexual desires.

What is more disheartening is there is no freedom of expression in the country. Even when a girl poses in a bikini on social media, rape threats make a row to her home. Men molest them or send them nasty messages commenting that women want sex. A woman’s free choice is not a bothering issue in this country because it is not given.

It is a lie that women are free in this free India. The masculine perspective rules the country more than ever now, and it does not seem that anyone will take a step to stop it.

No, In today’s generation also women are not safe because women don’t have proper safety like while travelling to different places in public transport. Their are many women who are not aware of their rights because of which they don’t raise the voice against wrong. In news channel, we can see that how women are getting affected through domestic violence and how the cases are increasing day by day of rape, sexual harassment, molestation, kidnapping, acid attack, harassment at workplace and what not. And there are many cases of women who don’t get justice because of not having proof and at some places the cases related to women don’t even get investigated due to which people who does criminals are more free to do crime. While travelling at night women don’t feel comfortable because of people who misbehave with women. Their should be safety for women in public transport and their should be separate compartment for men and women like in local train. In villages also women are facing domestic violence and they don’t take stand because of not aware of their rights. Government should plan such organizations or campaigns at villages who aren’t aware of their rights and self-defense training also so that women can fight back and protect herself from domestic violence. It will surely help women in villages to give an lesson for such people who don’t respect women. In urban and rural areas there are still people who don’t support women in their education and forced them to get married at the time of making career instead of forcing her for marriage they should support and motivate women to complete her education. Women don’t feel free to talk about menstrual problem because of society mentality. Talking of menstrual problem should be normalise because many women don’t know about menstrual hygiene. Society shouldn’t be shame to talk about menstrual problem it’s a natural thing for women. And Lastly, Government should more focus on women’s safety facilities.
