In India, where the gender gap in the overall population is already wide, the gap between vaccinated boys and girls is even wider. The sex ratio for those who did not get vaccinated is 869 female out of 1000 male and for those that got almost fully vaccinated it is only 859 female out of 1000 male. This data shows how badly the vaccination program has failed to reach girls properly. This is because society itself thought that women are less important than men, so they think to let the male survive, so we have very little chance of vaccinating female which is already a big loss. We should go against this social structure to fight these diseases. As smart as the Indians are we can easily find the right decision against this gender inequality issue in this vaccination.
Vaccination helps reduce the risk of people getting the infection it helps create an immune system to fight the virus. The problem is it’s not as successful without taking gender discrimination. Inventions can make gender discrimination have a lesser effect on society. The reasons why many women are not stepping forward to vaccinate themselves against cervical cancer are fake rumors, social and cultural stigma, and lack of awareness. If you go by the government estimates, all Indian states have a high incidence of cervical cancer, except Sikkim and Mizoram. The southern states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu have the lowest incidence rate.
Initially, there were no concerns among any gender due to limited knowledge among the people on this. But after some of the women were affected by the side effect that is they missed their periods and became pregnant, they blamed it on the vaccine injection. The government has been trying to give some vaccine awareness programs in various ways like sending doctors in these areas for immunization. The method to reach out to the malnourished people is helping the government a lot in developing these vaccination programs. As the economy is getting more and more competitive, it is becoming harder for women to show up at work. This is happening because of lack of basic facilities for them as toilets are not available, the proper transport system is not available in rural area or cities and even if they go to work their safety comes into question.
