BEAUTY PRODUCTS ARE IN SOME WAYS A SOURCE OF DISCRIMINATION?
We compare beauty with our gender and equality and consider that beauty is the need of an hour, but living in this 21st century, still, notions are related to the beauty of an individual. Beauty is an area where many people invest in terms of money and time too because we think beauty is all that recognizes a person and a criterion to get accepted anywhere.
There is n number of beauty products which are being advertised daily and some are newly introduced because there is a competition between brands also to be best but are they really promoting beauty products to be best than other brands or are they genuinely promoting a product. Because if we observe around, the most common idea to buy a beauty product is that it will make them look fair and beautiful as that is widely known and considered fact.
There is also a myth that women have to be beautiful and fair so that she gets accepted in society and then women assume it as a priority. Because of this, there is discrimination between each individual to be best not personality-wise but beauty-wise. We see that many dark-toned individuals are discriminated against and not valued because of their skin tone. And also, a reason for discrimination are brands promoting fairness and casting only fair actor and artist to advertise that beauty product.
Not only this but women are also more conscious in terms of being attractive and should be perfect in all terms and in doing so they invest more money. Many women are commented on and teased because of their tone, body structure, and their appearance. Gradually men are also becoming conscious to look handsome because they also think it matters.
Beauty products are the source of discrimination but it’s the ‘US’ who needs to understand that due to this there is discrimination and inequality between everyone and it should not be supported. Beauty is not a thing that has to be visible on our faces but it should be in our nature and behaviour.
