As we already know , homeschooling is a teaching method where children are not depending on school, rather than they’re being taught into their household, according to their own terms, in their own environment whether it’s by a professional teacher or by parents. This custom was usually used to be in 17’s or 18’s in specifically those families with higher standard as neither everyone possessed that economical conditions to pursue ut, nor higher education was highly preached or felt necessary among common people. And again, specially among the crisis of pandemic, homeschooling is growing day by day even in the middle class family. Parents refer the easygoing environment of home to teach their children.
Now the question becomes, not every home contain the procedure or playful contains for automatic building up the skills a children required which were provided by the schools. There’s where come the necessity of parents, performing or help their children to adopt those skills. And as everyone of us are aware of our social norms, it’s the women who are always expected to be in home, take care of children and in the ‘new normal’ they have to take care of children studies as well. And of course it’s not so easy as it seems. While children and most of the family is now at home, women’s daily household works have increased. With all those time to time cooking, taking care of household chores, there’s a new including of children with their needs for play, meals, attention, education crashing into the fine balance that was maintained thoroughly. And in plenty of families, these pressures are exposing the same gender inequalities which were long hidden behind. Whether it’s serving for other family members or for children, a woman, most likely his/her mother is to be blamed for ages already. And now, as we know, higher education for women isn’t so reality for lower and lower-middle class. Not every mother is experienced with the education requirements at all. Fathers , being a service man or business man, stay most of the time outside home and mother is expected to create those perfect environment for a child support and development.
And whether the requirements are fulfilled or not it’s the mother who’ll be questioned for every fault of her children.
So, yes it’s a clear statement that homeschooling is increasing the responsibility for women. Although as a family we should always divide our responsibilities. If we start to take care of children of our house, not only the responsibility on women decrease, but that child will also get that support and different environment from different family members, as he or she supposed to have in their schools.
