Women empowerment, reality or still a dream?
Women empowerment can be interpreted as promoting or encouraging women rights and abilities, and letting them live their life on their own terms, as the law provides. It rises the bar of their social strata to a level where is supposed to be, at par with the rest of the human population. It ensures that women be given what they deserve and achieve, not only in the eyes of the society or the people around them, but also in their own eyes. In my opinion, empowerment of women has been taken up as a great initiative, and it has surely come out real strong too, but unfortunately, it has not become a reality yet. It remains a dream of a number of people that live, with a thought of positivity and revolution in their minds and hearts every day.
Although modern-day feminists and activists in the literal sense have brought about a large wave of change among the minds of the people of our society, but some areas are yet to be reached out to. I believe, those who do not believe in ‘women empowerment’ need help in it’s true sense. Those living in the rural areas still follow ‘purdah’ system and expect women to live only and only to cook, clean, or nurture families. Whereas, even in the most urbanized areas, we get to hear about rape cases or crimes against women, every other day. Those who speak up against this unfair and unjust treatment, are punished in the cruelest ways and just shut up. It takes great courage to do what those women do when they go through everything that they go through. And once they are raped or abducted for just wanting to breathe with their head up in the air and live like a human, it breaks them completely and kills them internally. Why else do we have so many cases of mental illness in young girls and women?
It’s high time we realized the vitality of women empowerment as a real feature of our society. To treat a human like a human is what we all must take as our duty and responsibility, as it is the right of each and every woman, no matter where she belongs. Let’s thrive towards it and change this dream into a reality, to make this world a much better place with peace, love and humanity, for the future generations.
