Every year on March 8th, we celebrate women’s day. Have you ever wondered why there is only one day when women are celebrated and why on the rest of the day women have to face the patriarchal norms of society?
Do you think “women’s day is every day” is a false statement?

This is very good and a genuine question!!
As we all are well aware of the fact that international women’s day is celebrated on 8th March, worldwide to celebrate the social, cultural and political achievements of a women. It is very truly said that women’s day is everyday when she refuses to accept the societal norms pertaining to patriarchy, it’s her day when she gathers the courage to speak up against the wrongs, it is indeed her day when she decides to take her life decisions on her own, it is a women’s day when she takes the first day towards financial independence. We actually should not confine the achievements of women to a particular day but should acknowledge the importance of every small act in each day to mark their important contribution to uplift the standard of women across the globe. Women’s today have achieved equal to men, there is nothing on the planet which men can do and women can’t. This long journey of empowering women to this extent wasn’t achieved in a day but is a result of continuous struggle from centuries. With the help of each and every women who stood up for herself as well as other females in the society and so yes undoubtedly in my personal opinion every single day is a women’s day and we don’t need only one day to celebrate women’s day.

Why there’s only one day to celebrate women? An important question indeed but a very complex one to answer. While our society has definitely learnt to pretend they care about women’s rights, they are seldom successful in proving it right. They go on making days where they”celebrate” women and their rights or the days where they celebrate “mothers” but they never take the necessary precautions and decisions that would actually make women feel safe and respected and celebrated!

Women always have and they keep on facing the torments of the society, it is way past the time when they should have gotten their rights. Making a day dedicated to “celebrating” women is not gonna do anything. We need to take the necessary steps to make women’s life better. Until the day even a single woman faces crimes against her dignity, no country can claim that they “celebrate” women.
