Mental illness is an important thing to be talked about but in our society, it’s being a taboo nobody bothers to talk about it, in a current pandemic situation, people are in so tension, their mental health is not good because some are facing financial difficulties, some people had lost their jobs, and some has lost their closed people. One mental health is suffering, and people fear to talk about mental health because they have the wrong mindset that society will call them mad, symptoms of mental illness are anxiety, loss of appetite, crying for no reason, panic attacks, and depression if somebody experiences this more than twice that person needs to go for therapy, no need to suffer this in silently, it only going to worse to the extent where they can get BP, sugar, tumour and what not. we need to normalize talking about mental health if somebody sharing their problem please don’t judge them, try to help them because they are not in a position to hear any criticism all they require is love and positivity. One can take care of this by surrounding them with their loved ones, writing out their minds thoughts in a diary or sharing their problems with close ones, doing yoga and meditation and cutting down all the people who drain their energy it is very important. Scaring thing is young people are suffering from this problem they are getting anxiety attack, depression and indulging themselves in wrong addiction such as drinking, smoking and drugs this can take to toll on their mental health, parents need to keep eye on their children with whom they are hanging out. Educational institution and company need to keep a special committee for counselling if they are facing any problem in their personal and professional life, they will share with a counsellor and get help. I hope people make mental health their priority and need to enjoy life, stay happy and positive in every situation.

Mental health is considered a hidden disability as it is not sometimes shown to the outside world but it eats a person inside. If the person tries to tell about the mental state he is criticized on the basis that he might be ‘mad’. Sometimes these people are trapped into some superstitious sort of things which leads to a more disturbing state. Mental illness often leads to drug addiction as it’s hard for an individual to cope with this and tries to reduce it simple methods which are very harmful in long term.

In this unprecedented situation COVID-19, we have seen people are living in desolate places they were not in contact with the outside world and many of them become unemployed this lead to more mental illness issues. These people often become victims of different kinds of violence such as witchcraft which is prevalent since ancient times as these people were considered equal to evil and treated in a very harsh manner. WHO says that there is no health without mental health. So we should not consider mental health as a part of our body only like we go to the doctor for other ailments with occur In body likewise we should be concern about our mental state also.
In sustainable development goal, number three mental illness is also explicitly included. We should make people aware of mental issues. These taboos are more common in rural areas than urban area because of illiteracy and lack of understanding of medical issues. 1 out of 10 people are suffering from mental issues and most of these issues lead to suicides. We have often seen many celebrities committing suicide because of mental illness. Make proper advertisements and videos regarding this. Appoint psychologist in hospitals e=even in isolated places.

According to the Oxford Dictionary, mental illness is defined as a condition which causes serious disorder in a person’s behaviour or thinking.
WHO estimates about 7.5% of Indians suffer from mental illness. However, these are just the cases that have been discovered. There are still many who haven’t realized they’re suffering from a mental illness.
In our country, there is a lot of stigma surrounding mental health. Many don’t get help because of this. Many people are considered weak for having a mental disorder. They feel isolated and feel that there is no solution to their problems.
Society often pushes aside these problems and thinks that they’re just doing this to look cool. They might also think this is temporary and will pass. They do not take mental health seriously and mock people who have a mental illness. When someone tells their friend about their problems, they might think they’re crazy. Friends and family might comfort you but they do not offer permanent help.
So, if you feel that something might be wrong with you, seek help. However, In India, there are many psychologists who are inexperienced. Therapy is a great way to get help. However, not all people can afford therapy.
It is not something that affects only teenagers or people of a certain class, it affects anyone and everyone. If you suffer from mental illness, you’re not abnormal for wanting to seek help. You’re normal. You’re so strong for wanting to get help.
Mental Illness doesn’t affect us alone. It affects celebrities too. Deepika Padukone is a known activist for mental health. She suffered from depression. Depression doesn’t pick and choose victims. It does not magically vanish. But, with some help, you can get through it and even beat it.
Society might never change its perceptions. However, you can help others by raising mental health awareness. People must realize that mental health should be taken seriously. If we understood that, we could help someone and even save their life. The Government should also offer affordable therapy for everyone with licensed professionals.

It’s because our society has labelled it as a defect and even not considered as an illness. People only think of it as a pretense.Especially in the case of girls, people always refuse to talk about these things. Now just think that in our society if girls are having specs they are even told not to tell this to anyone. Now something as this is considered as an illness , how can people dare to talk about mental illnesses. Now this is also due to lack of education and people end up neglecting these or sometimes even symptoms are negligible and due to lack of information we fail to notice these signs and then it goes on and takes a severe turn.
Then the misconceptions of the word mental.
People think mental means the person practically becomes mentally challenged .
People need to understand that mental the word is not a taboo word.
People think depression means that a person is constantly depressed but no sometimes we all are smiling but inside we are depressed.
There are so many people who suffer from anxiety. Many people don’t even know what anxiety is. People think it’s just a small issue and some are even unaware of the term called high functioning anxiety.
Then there comes a society who already lavel girls as defective like we are some products. We don’t even realise how girls are prone to mental illnesses as society always gives them so much pressure and so many stereotypes and how society always tries to control her everything and even her basic choices and also these fake beauty standards and constant harassment both sexual and mental . Let’s also not forget how we are molested at every phase of our life. There is also no space where we feel safe and in this condition how can we stay sane? It is already enough that we are sane after going through these things. We really need more awareness of mental health.

Mental illness, the minute we hear this we assume that the person is “mad ” or “crazy”, We have a habit of categorizing mental illness with our own perception without actually knowing the seriousness of the problem. Some even say that the person is a victim of evil spirits and has some black magic shadow.
It is still a taboo because nobody is ready to accept that this is disease and not a topic to make a fun of a person with mental illness. No matter how much money, luxury and loved ones are around you ,however one can still be depressed. It can only be treated with the proper therapy and the treatment required for the diagnosed mental illness . We shouldn’t be discovering the solution for a mental illness with our self, because we will end up destroying it more rather than making it normal. Some are affected with a mental illness due to the surrounding as well as the family members who radiate negative energy. However, our society will still not accept the fact that a family members arethe reason for the mental illness of the affected person, therefore they blame the ill person that you are not good enough to live with family. Furthermore, the actual issues starts arising from here. The person starts thinking negative about his or her own personality and the constant thought and voice inside our brain causes an interwoven web of thoughts which leads to a mental illness.
Mental disorders are not yet officially found the caused behind them as it can be genetics, social context, family problems ,stress , etc. It can lead to frustration, anger, hatred ,anxiety ,fear ,self-doubt as well as physical health is also retreated in every possible way.
Mental illness are growing in large number of people globally, and we need to take this seriously before the whole world is under the mental illness.
Being kind to each other and make people feel loved is the only solution we can do at first.
A healthier mental illness will enhance our physical health as well as the growth as a human.

More people are talking about it and fetching the taboo by sharing their own story to awaken the people before It’s too late.
