Menstrual leave is a leave when girls and women are going through menstruation and having pain due to which they can’t go for work therefore they may prefer menstrual leave it can be paid or unpaid as per the company policy. Because of the menstrual leave policy it has become disagreement and discrimination against girls and women. As per the research, very few of the countries has menstrual leave policy. In india, there are companies like Gozoop and cultural Machine who gives menstrual leave for female employees for the first day of the menstruation. Indian Company Zomato who delivers food also have the policy of menstrual leave for female employees. It is necessary that menstrual leave policy should be their in companies because some of the women while going through menstruation they may suffer from dysmenorrhea due to which it causes more pain. In our society, it is stigma to have menstrual leave their are many few of them who supports for menstrual leave policy whereas other people will start discrimination against women. Companies needs to apply menstrual leave policy because women has to work sitting at a place for 8 to 9 hours and while menstruating it becomes difficult for women to goes through with pain. Society need to remove the stigma about menstrual leave and atleast support for women’s menstrual leave policy every month.

Menstrual leave is the leave which is taken by the women when they are on periods which is paid or can be unpaid it depends on person to person, all women menstruate once a month. During first four days of week women faces immense pain cramp nausea, cramps, and body ache she is not able to focus anything but still, they have to come for work because very few companies which provide the menstrual leave which is not good and people need to think that how one work so the company needs to give menstruation leave or keep a choice if women are comfortable for working or they want to take leave look we all nothing is more important than health unpaid leave company cut if women take holiday so they force their body to work it can affect the mental health one behaves restless and anger for no reason and it is normal, that’s why a company need to make the policy. Employees are an asset you can’t force them to work when they are in pain how can they give their 100 percent may be the company can give the option of work from home if they feel better or just attend the work calls and check emails, and trust me many females would love to work with the company even if the salary is low because you are caring about their health first. Many other countries have started adopting the policy of menstrual so all the females are very happy because of this.

Period was a topic that has remained behind closed doors which was only discussed by women. Things have changed drastically since then but still period or menstruation has remained taboo in our country, a thing as natural as menstruating is associated with such shame or embarrassment baffles me. Menstruating is taboo in India! When women are on their periods, they face many problems and have to suffer from lots of pain so it’s difficult to concentrate on work/study.
Menstrual leave policy in India is starting to gain recognition and companies like Zomato, Byju’s, Swiggy, etc, have come up with a menstrual leave policy which is good in a way but there comes a question in my mind. Do women need special treatment during periods? Isn’t it against our idea of equality? Period is a natural thing. People didn’t use to give women jobs because of a biological condition they go through every month, the misconception that women can’t work during periods so they shouldn’t be taken up for jobs was very much there in society but women fought against this misconception and now women all across the country are soaring high in every field. Considering this, the menstrual leave policy will make the fight for equality a mere brag.
Menstrual leave Policy gives women a tag that they cannot work during periods, which is wrong! Women can work during periods and can work as much as a man can in his full strength although there are some women who go through immense pain, it’s difficult for them to concentrate on work but at the same time they have the strength to endure every pain and work to the best of their capabilities. Women are strong enough to work! Just because of a biological thing they can’t be given special or inferior treatment. This is unfair to women themselves. It will give rise to misogyny. I’m not against the menstrual leave policy but I don’t want any special treatment for women so that the world gets another reason to point fingers at women. We as women know that we can do anything while bleeding that men can do in their best health. Women work at their homes and take care of everything else during periods and also do their jobs whether it’s working in an organization or being in the army. Women cannot be treated differently. Menstrual leave policy should only be considered if we give men parental leave too. I am immanently against the gendering of the workplace and consider it opposing to my belief in feminism, which is based on the equality of all genders. So the menstrual leave policy should only be considered when men get the same kind of leave.
