No, it is not against men but it is against patriarchy that exists in our society. It is a system of society in which men hold the power and women are largely excluded from it. That is unfair but still this scenario.
Most people consider feminism as a method adopted by women to prove themselves superior to men. It’s untrue. No gender is superior to the other. A person should be considered right or wrong based on their deeds and not on their gender. Gender discrimination is not right, a woman is not weak, she can achieve whatever she wants to achieve. I think a proper understanding is a need of the hour between us. “Pulling someone down will never put you up”.
Expecting a woman to do all household chores, asking her to stop continuing her job after marriage, taking care of children alone etc. This is patriarchy.
It’s high time to comprehend what is the difference between Feminism and Patriarchy.

Feminism is a belief that promotes equality between genders. It’s main aim is to lift up women and bring them to the same level as men. It gives women the much needed voice in a patriarchal word. It ensures that women are paid equally for the same work and are not abused by men. It supports equality in education and opportunities. So there is no way we can say that feminism is against men! But still it is believed by many people that when on one hand feminism helps women achieve equal opportunities and rights as men, on the other hand it quashes men in the process of doing so. And here is the reason why.

Just like a rotten apple spoils the whole barrel there are some people whose deceiving ideologies has destroyed the true meaning of feminism. Instead of bringing equality between genders they tend to blame men for all the injustices done to women. They believe that in order to uplift one gender there is a need to suppress the other. People believe that feminists want to control the world and put men down. While we must know that this is not Feminism. If you believe in the equality of women as men then you are a feminists. Feminism never aims to degrade any gender.

Feminism as I have perceived it to be is the belief that men and women should have equal rights. It’s about acknowledging both the genders equally, none more or less than the other. It’s about assuring that girls and women get the same opportunities that boys and men get in their lives. It’s not about hating men. It’s not about women’s superiority. It’s about accepting women as equals whether in a political, economic, or social context. Feminism is about fighting for equality and addressing issues faced by both genders. There is no way we can spread hate and false narrative on the pretext of feminism. It is not necessary that feminists should be females, they can be of any gender. True feminism supports both men and women and understands that both genders have problems that need to be solved. Feminism is about accepting and empowering women to stand up for their rights and not about ridiculing males or hating males. Although there are some who believe in Pseudo-feminism, they want a world that is ruled solely by women and they use feminism as a tool to propagate their idea of superiority. This is a reason that many people do not support feminism and call feminism a fake movement, there are also many gender clashes because of the false portrayal of feminism in society, and tend to call feminism a movement that is against men. The truth is that the whole movement cannot be defined by only a fraction of pseudo-feminists. Women deserve equality, not superiority. Feminism is for everybody. Both genders have the right to feel vulnerable or strong. Feminism is a movement that fights against the inequality of women and it is about all genders deserving a fair chance. Everyone needs to know that feminism is about the equality of women and not about hating on men or being superior to men.

Feminism is the movement that aims to dismantle patriarchy and liberate women. When feminists talk about the upliftment of women, a lot of insecure people convince themselves that feminism is trying to downcast men by uplifting women. It is a human tendency to believe that when someone is not talking about their rights, then that someone must be against them, but that is not the true picture.

Just because feminism talks about women’s rights, it doesn’t want men to be stripped off of their rights. Feminism talks about women’s rights because it has disproportionately always been women that have been deprived of their basic rights and not men. Of course, even men don’t get some rights because of patriarchy that they should be getting, but the rights that women have been deprived of are far more than those of men. Feminism just aims to give women the freedom that they never received in the first place, it doesn’t, in any way, tries to take men’s rights away. In fact, the dismantling of patriarchy—which is one of the primary goals of feminist movement—will itself lend men numerous rights.

So to answer the question, is feminism against men? No, it is not. Wanting the rights for women does not mean it has to be at the expense of men’s rights. Both men and women can live in harmony with both having the same rights. One does not have to be superior to the other to co-exist as humans. So feminism never was, and never will be against men.
