What is a choice? It is the entitlement of a person to make the decision of their own life. Choice is a basic right of every human being. So why when a woman makes a choice for herself, it becomes a problem for everyone else? Women have the right to choose whatever they think is best for them. It is a woman’s right to choose whatever she wants. Being able to make her own decisions about her health, body and sexual life is the right of every woman. Nobody should tell a woman to do what they think is best for her. Whether it’s about in what college she will pursue her studies or it’s about the profession she chooses for herself. It’s her choice. It’s her choice if she wants to marry and it’s her choice if she doesn’t. It’s her choice if she wants to do a job and it’s her choice if she wants to be a homemaker. It’s a woman’s choice to either cover her head or whole body and it’s also her choice to wear whatever length of cloth she wants. It’s a woman’s choice to have whatever body type and it’s her choice to have any beauty standard for herself. It’s a woman’s choice if she wants to have a sexual relationship with her husband/boyfriend and it’s also her choice if she doesn’t. No one can make reproductive choices on matters affecting her body. It’s a woman’s choice whether or when to have a child or not. A woman is denied a life-saving termination because abortion is illegal in her country or stereotyped by society. It’s all about a woman’s right to choose. Nobody and I repeat Nobody has the right to judge a woman on a choice she made for herself.  Choosing is a basic right for everyone and it cannot be denied to women. We all should protect and promote freedom of choice. Freedom to choose is everything.
As said by David.O.Mckay – “Freedom of choice is more to be treasured than any possession earth can give.”

As a matter of fact we know that freedom to make choices is a basic human right guaranteed to all the people by the very virtue of being human. If looked at from a broader perspective this right is basically protected by the Human Rights Law. Having a life without a choice is considered meaningless because one is decisions in life be it personally or professionally.
Talking about women in particular it is very necessary to acknowledge here that after being dominated by males for years finally it was after the independence of the country that the status of women was given a fair recognition in the society. For years now we have lived in a society where majority of the decision-making in a family are taken by what they feel is right for her without consulting the one for whom the decision was being taken.
Women in our society were never given a free hand to take major decisions for themselves independently on their own. Women have the right to choose what they want to do with their life, how they want to dress, whom they want to marry, what they want to be, and other major decisions.
And so right to choose is the major right which should be exercised by every women for a more balanced and an independent life.

“ If the women’s movement can be summed up in a single phrase, ‘it is the right to choose’.” – Beatrice Faust.

Right to choose is a human right and every individual should have it. Then why are women exempted from it? Many women across different parts of the world does not have the choice of pursuing their career. They do not have to choice to marry a person of their liking. They are stripped away from education and entitled to someone other man once they reach a certain age. Men are put with unlimited power in their hands to choose what they think is best for their wives, daughters, mothers or sisters. Women do not have the right to choose even if it is the matter of their own body. Girls are forced to abort. They are forced not to abort. Why cant they chose this for themselves? Why can’t a woman choose if and when she want to have a child?

In each and every aspect of life, all a woman does is sacrifice and compromise. Sacrifice their education, dreams, jobs and body. And somehow all this have been so normalized that we do not even pay much heed to it. We raise the issue of gender equality, gender stereotypes, sexism, feminism, patriarchy, but we fail to acknowledge the root cause behind all such matters. The right to choose. A woman has the right to choose the best for herself and her body and I believe that no one should intervene in it.
