Feminism started as a movement to fight for women’s rights. While the movement’s sole aim was to liberate women and to strip off patriarchy, it has meant different to different people. There has never been a single meaning to feminism in people’s minds. Different people perceive it in different ways. While this definitely ensures inclusivity of all in a particular movement, it has definitely caused the feminist movement to divert from it’s actual aim.

There is also now a concept of pseudofeminism that mainly just aims to tear down men and hate on them. This is definitely something to take care of when we decide our own meanings of any movement. While the individual meaning might be different for different people, the core aim should always remain in the same and that is the liberation of women from the age old patriarchy.
