Is it weird? Ugh, Its insane! But, what if it isn’t and makes complete sense?

Ah the turmoil and confusion of a girl with a role model. Lest a fictional one! What!? (You say) A fictional role model? Yes, I say. To believe that role models should be limited to history books and television screens, seem a bit ignorant. “Real” role models can be found even in the fictional world, the key being the search to find The One for you. Your role model doesn’t have to be a “real” person breathing in this world, as even the fictional characters can help you in ways unimaginable. So, here is a list of five fictional female characters that would make some great role models.

1. Hermione Granger

A straight pick for a Potterhead. Hermione Granger is the epitome of intelligence, wit, compassion and sassiness combined. She is one of the most badass characters ever written, who is not afraid to be herself and a constant reminder to the ladies to be who they are and love it. Definitely a keeper!

2. Elizabeth Bennett

In times when women were supposed to be hidden behind curtains and bow down to others, Elizabeth Bennett chose to make her own way. A headstrong character and an extremely intelligent woman, Miss Bennett refused to submit to the ways of the society and showed she possessed farsightedness. She was not one to mince her words and keep her beliefs and ideas hidden inside the closet. Elizabeth Bennett is definitely a role model-ish character.

3. Princess Leia

What is the first impression that comes to your mind when you see the word “Princess”? A beautiful, shy and coy girl clad in a flowing gown with her eyes down, submitting to the gaze of her admirers. Well, Princess Leia definitely changed the definition of “Princess” for generations to come. Instead of waiting for a Prince to come and rescue her, Princess Leia took matter into her own hands and became a spy for her people. She did not play with wooden dolls but rather guns and gave everyone role model goals.

4. Brienne of Tarth

She is fearless and brave. A Protector, A Saviour. Brienne of Tarth from the Game of Thrones series is an inspiring character who accepted her differences and overcame every hurdle put in her way. Her male like physique was often made fun of, but she made it her power point and marched ahead towards an incredible journey. With an “unfeminine” build, a soft caring heart and instances of proving herself, Brienne of Tarth is a suitable choice for a role model.

5. Nancy Drew

A charming teenager with exceptionally good “detective skills”, Nancy Drew was (and still is) the subject of our fascination. Now, why should a teenager be a role model? Because Nancy is so much more than a “silly” teenager. She is smart, funny, intelligent, independent and dedicated towards her work, exhibiting the qualities a person should possess. Miss Drew is indeed a good pick for a role model, specially for the youngsters.
